2005 Diezel Einstein 100

This is a boutique German made high gain metal amp that has become very popular with players into death/thrash metal or hard rock. The construction here is like most high gain amps - Printed Circuit Board - but the quality of it and the parts make for a very good amp. This amp had been worked on by other techs who didn’t want to do all the work to take out the main board to install new caps and voltage regulators correctly. So they just clipped parts off the top of the board and tacked in the new parts to the old wire leads - not the type of quality craftsmanship I would like to see. Not to mention a bunch of mods that didn’t make any sense and the filter caps were the wrong voltage ratings and presently failing. The amp barely worked and sounded like trash. All this needed to be undone and the amp taken back to stock/working condition.

All the axial lead electrolytic capacitors were replaced with upgraded voltage and temperature rated MOD and CE brand electrolytic’s. The radial cap’s were replaced with new extra high-quality Rubycon and Nichicon brand units. The power dropping resistors were replaced with 5 watt wire-wound type for better noise floor and reliability. All of the misplaced 1/8 Watt Metal Film Resistors were replaced with the same values in the right PCB locations. Same went for the Wima box style film caps.

The tubes were replaced: V1-V6 = JJ 12AX7MG/JJ 12AX7S, V7-V10 = JJ E34L Blue Glass. I picked out this lineup specifically for this amp to give the best balance of tone, reliability, and low noise. The adjustable Fixed Bias was set to Factory Spec.

In order to do this repair the right way, the entire amp had to be un-wired, the octal sockets clipped out and replaced, wire locations photographed and catalogued and then re-wired. This was one of the most difficult repairs I have ever done. The amp now sounds great and is back to being a boutique piece of gear.
