2010’s Kingsley Jester

These Kingsley hand-wired tube preamp/OD pedals have become very popular in the boutique world as of late. The Jester is one of the more well known models based on Kingsley’s original circuit designs. It features separate Boost and Overdrive circuits, and the pedal contains 2 12AX7 preamp tubes running at full plate voltage.

This one came in with both of the footswitches cutting in and out or not working at all, and the slide switches were very dirty also causing bad contact/loss of audio. The preamp tubes tested with little life left in them and need to be replaced.

New high quality foot-switches were installed and all associated wiring/solder joints were re-done. The two slide switches were sprayed out with De-Oxit cleaner and actuated until working correctly. Two new 12AX7 preamp tubes were installed. The tubes chosen were both small plate 12AX7's for the least amount of microphonics - which is important on a pedal that will be stepped on and rattled often. V1 = JJ 12AX7S, V2 = TAD ECC83-cz. These tubes were picked for best tone and reliability specifically for this circuit. This pedal now functions like new.
