2020 Kenton Electrix The Gerald MK 2

This is a custom made pedal with Fuzz, Linear Booster and Twin-T Fixed Wah Filter combined in the same enclosure.

It started off very roughly based on the Dallas Arbiter Fuzz Face, EHX LPB-1, and the very rare Colorsound Inductor-less Wah - all from the 1970’s. All of these circuits were highly modified and designed to work well with one another in series. The Fuzz circuit uses NOS Amperex 115 NPN Silicon Transistors. It also features selectable Negative Feedback on a footswitch for loud/soft dynamic changes in gain and the gating effect this causes. This is followed by a gain modified LPB circuit to make up for the low output of the Fuzz circuit creating a huge available range in output volume. There is a 3 way selectable Tone Cap switch on the inout which changes bass response and available gain not unlike a modified Rangemaster. Then there is a separate effect circuit for the Fixed Wah/Filter which has controls for resonance (all the way into oscillation) and Frequency Notch. There is an Input jack for a Expression Pedal to control the effect like a more traditional wah.

The entire pedal is built like a hand-wired tube amp using high voltage Mallory 150 film caps and 1/2 Watt resistors on a traditional turret lug board just like a 1950’s build for the military.
